«In the beginning was the Word». No, not for me. In the beginning was the Film. Remembering my first passions in life, I can only think of motion pictures. I started developing my taste with classical film background, Hollywood, French New Wave, digital age cinema. It lead me into deep and faithful love to 24 fps features - black and white, and colour, and then 3d, and IMAX. Now I adore 50 fps and even more…
Early 2000s. I started working at the most professional and independent news radiostation in old days Russia. Learning to achive my best results while working under pressure, finding best results in very short amount of time, learning to respect dead-lines, searching the ways to raise efficency of my craft. This was the greatest time when I learned modern ways of storytelling, editing spoken words and overcome my own expectations. Meanwhile my pure and devoted love to cinema expanded into something more practical: I started building my own amatuer web site with film news, critique articles and live festival info.
Late 2000s and beyond. My eagerness and luck brought me to the most notable Russian production compny, owned by international star-filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov. It is my alma mater. I learned to work on Avid Media Composer there. At that time it was common practice to invite foriegners to direct local commercial production in Moscow. So noting my language skills I've had the greatest experience working for American, French, British, German, Spanish - dozens in total - film directors. Then, spending some happy years working on Final Cut Pro, I migrated to my favourite and most productive weapon - Adobe Premiere Pro. My natural curiosity, super-fast clicks and active use of hotkeys makes editing enjoyable not only for me, but for my editing partners either.
